I’ve been here a little over two years, and I’ve been driving straight truck, trailer, and semi for 40, so I’ve been around the block once or twice. Badger treats you like a human, not just a number. If you need time off, they work with you and make sure you’re done on time. They’re also very safety-oriented. All the equipment is 5 years old or newer. They rotate trucks every five years through Penske, and Badger owns and maintains all the trailers. Everybody is very friendly and knowledgeable. Last winter, I had to take the truck into Penske, where we lease from, and it was all covered in snow. I walked in to get a broom, and the guy in charge of the shop actually came out with the broom and brushed it off for me. Anybody you deal with is great.

SDAP Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program

At Badger Express, we’re committed to nurturing the next generation of professional drivers. We’re proud to be approved participants in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program. The Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program is a unique initiative that allows drivers aged 18-20 with an intrastate commercial driver’s license to operate in interstate commerce under specific conditions.

Who is eligible?

Drivers aged 18, 19, or 20
Currently possess a CDL with a K-restriction (intrastate only)
Those eager to expand their driving opportunities and earn more

Do local drivers have to run regional or over-the-road routes?

No, our local drivers are home every night and work first shift only.

How long do over-the-road drivers stay out?

Our over-the-road drivers are home every week. Typically, they leave on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday and return home to take their restart near the end of the week.

Are your trucks governed?

Yes, our trucks are governed at 68 mph for cruise control and 65 mph on the pedal for safety and fuel efficiency.

What kind of freight do you haul?

We primarily handle general commodity dry van freight, that is “no touch” for our drivers ensuring they can focus on driving safely and efficiently.

How do you handle customer relations?

We're driver-centric. If a customer treats our drivers poorly, we don't work with them. Our drivers may be alone in the truck, but they're never alone in their work. We're here to help any way we can.
